An organization serving youth ages 11-17 of Plymouth and surrounding communities
Dedicated to providing a safe and educational environment where young people of our community can gather, socialize, and continue to learn outside of school
Dedicated to the development of creative arts programs, learning centers, recreational activities, homework support, and reading and writing centers
Interested in providing positive role models and mentors for our youth through our community volunteers and participants
Guidelines for Volunteers:
All Pemi Youth Center volunteers MUST be at least 18 years of age and have obtained either a high school diploma, or GED.
All volunteers are required by the state to complete a criminal background check.
Volunteers that have either had past experience working with teens, or possess a great desire to work with teens are preferred. We accept all different people that come from all different backgrounds to fill volunteer positions. As humans, we learn from one another, and it is important that our youth learn necessary skills and lessons from our volunteer staff. In that way, we do not have a ""cookie cutter"" image of who the ""ideal"" volunteer is. That being said, there are some certain qualities we look for. These qualities include, but are by no means limited to:
Willingness to give of self to serve the needs of others
Willingness to explore alternative ways of thinking and growing
Possessing the desire to inspire
Possessing a positive attitude, (which can rub off)
Ability to problem solve
Ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere and communicate effectively
Pemi Youth Center volunteers can become involved with many aspects of running the youth center, according to their specific skills, talents and interests. Specific functions include, but are not limited to:
Supervising youth while they are participating in any Pemi Youth Center activity.
Mentoring youth in specific areas of their lives.
Assisting with homework.
Aiding with Center clean up.
Taking part in event planning, and preparation.
Participating in advertising and promotional efforts.
